let's try this blog thing again

So here is my second attempt at blogging. The only problem is that I am all alone (except for my goofy 2 year old screaming on my lap trying to grab at the key board) without my blogging friends telling me how to do this. So we'll see how this works.
I work part time doing after school child care for school age kids. I came up with the crazy idea to have a knitting club this summer to teach kids how to knit or help those who already know how. WHY? WHY? WHY? For starters, like I said before, I'm not the greatest knitter and I think I'm an even worse teacher. So I have about 7 or 8 girls from kindergarten through fifth grade wanting to learn how to knit. WHY ME? WHY ME? Ok it's actually not that bad. Amy helped me out a lot the first day and a fellow co-worker of mine is also helping with this club. Most of the girls are finally catching on after about 3 or 4 weeks. We even have a forth grade boy who already knows how to knit come to the club.
I've recently had a birthday and my mother in law made the coolest cake for me. It was a big ball of yarn with two needles (metal) and yarn (frosting) going to a pair of mittens (made of cake). It's hard to explain it but it was so cool. I'll try and get a picture of it on here if I can figure out a scanner or something. THat's All... ByE

This is new to me

ok...so I've been knitting for almost a year and a half now and I don't think I'm very good, but that's besides the point. My fellow chixs with stixs finally got me goin' on this blog thing. I am pretty much computer and internet dumb and have NO time to get better.
I've been married for 5 years to a wonderful man who loves me very much(even when I knit!). I have a 4 year old son and a 2 year old daughter who keep me going all day long. I also work every weekday afternoon for 2ish hours as a child care teacher. So when I'm not busy with all of that, I get to KNIT :) !
I LOVE to knit! If I could, I'd knit all day, 24/7. It's relaxing (unless I mess up big time). It's exciting to see progress on something that I am making (unless I mess up big time). It's just fun (unless I mess up big time). Can you see a theme here?
I'm a slow learner when it comes to knitting. I can't follow directions or diagrams in a book for the life of me. I need to be shown how to do something a million times before I catch on. I'm sure my friends get annoyed, but they're good at not showing it! I feel real comfortable with a regular ol' knit stitch and pearl stick (I don't really know all the technical knitting words either), but that's it. I figure in about 10 years I'll learn how to slip slip knit or do a cable or something.
